The Swine Flu Pandemic which Novye Izvestija has written about many times, may be the most ambitious scam and corruption of our time. In any case, the enormous commercial aspect of the “swine flu scare” is already evident.
The same conclusion was reached by Danish journalists who expertly examined the links between the World Health Organization (WHO) and the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies, who gained wealth by selling drugs to counter the disease. It turns out, for example, that many scientists who sit on various committees of WHO, carefully concealed the fact that they receive money from the giant pharmaceutical companies of the world.
According to the international investment bank JP Morgan, the pharmaceutical industry will make more than 7 Billion Euros this year on the sale of A/H1N1 vaccines. Leading western countries have ordered enough doses to vaccinate either their entire population (such as Australia) or one third (Germany and several other EU member States). Factories making the vaccines and pills are working around the clock, in four shift rotations, with a backlog of orders …they are not experiencing the global economic crisis as others might.
For the first time in many years flu pandemic ‘panic’ has affected the EU. The vaccine has been produced without a sufficient number of clinical and laboratory tests.
Is such a panic justified? a growing number of specialists are examining the issue by comparing the mortality statistics from the swine flu virus and it’s ‘conventional’ varieties, each Autumn they begin their march across the planet. So far, according to WHO, six thousand people have fallen victim to A/H1N1, while the average annual death rate during epidemics of ‘traditional’ varieties of flu reaches half a million.
The main cause of the hysterical response to the swine flu epidemic, according to reporters from the Danish newspaper ‘Information’, is not because it is so dangerous, but because of a strong public relations campaign by experts from WHO. Some of them [WHO experts] are literally in the service of the vaccine manufacturers. “It is disturbing that many of the scientists who sit on various committees of WHO, are presented as ‘independent experts’, but they carefully conceal the fact that they receive money from pharmaceutical companies”, Professor of epidemiology, Tom Jefferson, who works at the Cochrane Center in Rome, told reporters.
WHO announced the swine flu pandemic under pressure from a panel of advisers, headed by a Dutch doctor, Albert Ostenhaus, nicknamed ‘Dr. Flu’ (from the name ‘Tamiflu’) because he was active in promoting mass vaccination of the population through WHO and the Western media. Now the government of the Netherlands is conducting an emergency investigation into the activities of ‘Doctor Flu’, as it became known that he receives a salary from several vaccine manufacturing companies. Many other WHO advisers sit ‘on two chairs’ (conflict of interest) like Ostenhaus, and while dealing with the swine flu pandemic on behalf of WHO, they do not like to advertise that they are paid advisers to pharmaceutical giants Roche, RW Johnson, SmithKline and Beecham Glaxo Wellcome, who have received the lion’s share of orders for manufacturing of vaccines. Vaccines and other medications are referred to 42 times!” Dr. Jefferson and several of his colleagues believe that paid advisers of the pharmaceutical companies should be removed from their positions and not allowed to give recommendations to the WHO, but the organization itself is in no hurry to carry out such a reform. British scientists suspect that swine flu virus has mutated in Ukraine. “In the autopsy, what we’re seeing is very heavy, wet hemorrhagic lungs, lungs with a lot of blood in them,” said Dr. Gregory Schmunk.
He said the official count of seven H1N1 deaths is inaccurate, but patient rights laws prohibit him from giving specific numbers.
He said there are two reasons for the discrepancy. First, not all sick patients get tests and second, the virus is difficult to detect. Some patients may be too sick to receive the most accurate H1N1 test.

European scientists and health authorities are facing angry questions about why H1N1 flu has not caused death and destruction on the scale first feared, and they need to respond deftly to ensure public support.
Accusations are flying in British and French media that the pandemic has been “hyped” by medical researchers to further their own cause, boost research grants and line the pockets of drug companies.
Britain’s Independent newspaper this week asked “Pandemic? What Pandemic?”
France’s Le Parisien newspaper ran the headline: “Swine flu: why the French distrust the vaccine” and noted a gap between the predicted impact of H1N1 and the less dramatic reality.
“Although some 30-odd people have died…the disease is not really frightening,” it said. “Dangerous liaisons between certain experts, the labs and the government, the obscurity of the contracts between the state and the pharma firms have added to the doubt.”
In response, scientists are walking a fine line. They say that although the virus is mild, it can still kill, and that the relatively low fatalities in Europe are in part, the result of official response to their advice.
However, in Britain, health authorities’ original worst-case scenario – which said as many as 65,000 could die from H1N1 – has twice been revised down and the prediction is now for around 1,000 deaths, way below the average annual toll of 4,000 to 8,000 deaths from seasonal winter flu.

‘Poisoning attempt’ charges filed against French H1N1 campaign

In what is being seen as the first of many such actions to come, nine individuals have filed formal charges claiming that the H1N1 campaign is a deliberate attempt to poison the French population.
These charges, which were filed yesterday, could not come at a more inopportune moment for the government and health specialists. The vaccination campaign got underway last Tuesday in a climate of national skepticism as to the vaccine’s safety and efficiency, and this news will surely boost the morale of the increasing number of anti-vaccine lobbyists who are beginning to organize their resistance to any attempt to vaccinate the population against H1N1.
Nine inhabitants of the Isére region of France are cited as joint plaintiffs in the case, including a health sector worker, a teacher and a radio talk show host. They met each other at various public meetings held to denounce the vaccine’s alleged health risks.
The charges take the form of a ‘plainte contre X’ which means that the perpetrator of an alleged crime or felony is not known, or is not named, in the charge sheet. This is a commonly used manner of filing complaints in France, particularly where the charges relate to supposed government implication in alleged breaches of the law. In cases where those trials proceed after prior examination of the facts, the specific persons or organizations concerned are designated and charged as the trial proceeds.
Jean-Pierre Joseph, the plaintiffs’ lawyer, describes the vaccination campaign as “A veritable attempt to poison.” He confirmed that the charges were filed at the High Court in Grenoble before the court’s senior examining magistrate. He said other court cases involving other plaintiffs would begin soon
The various charges filed included one of “Attempting to administer substances…of a nature which could result in death.”
“The aim is to put a stop to what we consider to be an act of poisoning,” according to Joseph. “The interest of this action is that people in France now have a means by which to express their concern as citizens by saying publicly “We are aware that the vaccination campaign is a swindle.”
Similar court actions are planned in other areas of the Isére, as well as in Paris, Pau and Nantes, and several hundred vaccine opponents are beginning to organize themselves on the internet with a view to filing class action charges.
The government and health authorities are currently battling to persuade people to get vaccinated against increasingly difficult odds. Opposition to the campaign has been increasing steadily, and various polls taken over the last few days put the figure for those who do not intend to get vaccinated as high as 70 percent.
Their task is being made even more arduous by the fact that while authorities believe on the one hand that vaccination is essential despite negative public reaction, the French have traditionally proved to be very quick to condemn and file charges in cases where not enough was said to be done to prevent other medical mishaps such as the Mad Cow outbreak and an AIDS contamination case, in which several people died and many more became HIV positive after receiving AIDS-contaminated blood transfusions in hospitals.
That signifies that the authorities have very little room to maneuver and are more or less obliged to continue the campaign in order to avoid similar charges should they decide or be forced to abandon the campaign and high numbers of people die as a result of not being vaccinated.

The darling of the globalist NGO “color revolution” in the Ukraine, Viktor Yushchenko, has issued an official statement suggesting as president he will impose martial law on the country, force citizens to take toxic vaccinations, and outlaw demonstrations by the political opposition.
“I instruct the Government and the Ministry of Health to immediately start preventive and promotional work in areas where there is no epidemic, targeting primarily the special risk groups,“ declared Yushchenko. “This means that medical aid must be urgently reinforced by emergency, critical care treatment. It is generally known that the only way to prevent any infection is vaccination.”
In his declaration, Yushchenko made the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council “the center of decision-making” and said that “failure to comply with its orders will immediately result in application to the law enforcement authorities.”
In addition, Yushchenko said demonstrations against the government during the growing flu epidemic would be considered acts of “criminal irresponsibility,” a hint that the government will crack down on opposition under the cover of protecting the public. “I have addressed the Prosecutor General of Ukraine with the request to institute criminal charges of negligence” against government officials “who, despite having daily information on the epidemic situation in the country, neglected it in pursuit of political dividends and ambition,” said Yushchenko.
On November 4, Yushchenko accused rival Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, ex-prime minister Viktor Yanukovich and parliamentary speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn of ignoring the growing epidemic and organizing mass rallies for their own campaigns. “The first and most effective method of prevention is not to allow mass gatherings of people. But, ignoring this rule, hundreds of thousands of people were brought to Kiev for various events from different regions,” Yushchenko said in a televised speech, according to Reuters.
In late October, the government imposed a quarantine around the country and public events were banned, including the elections. Police enforced the compulsory wearing of protective face masks and citizens caught not wearing a mask faced harsh legal penalties.
On November 3, Ukraine shut down its schools, universities and cinemas, and banned public gatherings for the foreseeable future. Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko said “special regimes” designed to limit the movement of Ukraine’s citizens were being introduced in an attempt to prevent the spread of the mystery virus.
On November 2, Infowars Ireland reported that authorities in Kiev were spraying of “aerosolized medication” by aircraft over city. “The office of Emergency Response in the district of Desniansko, Kiev, are tonight (30th Oct.) strongly refuting reports that light aircraft were spraying a substance over the city intended to counter a ’swine flu pandemic’ in Ukraine,” Infowars Ireland explained. “It was reported that light aircraft were seen over the Forest market area of the city (close to the Forest metro station) and they were spraying an aerosol substance intended to ‘counter swine flu,’ this of course would constitute forced medication of the population.”
The office of Emergency Response in the district of Desniansko strongly refuted the accusation.
After the UN’s WHO sent an emergency team to Ukraine to monitor the outbreak which as so far infected 450,000 people and killed more than 80, it was determined the illness has been caused by H1N1 swine flu. British scientists are examining samples of a strain to determine whether the virus has mutated, Sky News reports.
Other health experts believe that the virus may actually be a different pathogen, not H1N1, with some observers suggesting it may be a return of the pheumonic plague, a bacterial infection that can be 100% deadly if not treated quickly.
Earlier today, an outbreak of pneumonic plague was reported in China. “Chinese authorities have put a whole town in quarantine after an outbreak of horrifying pneumonic plague,” notes Health Freedom Alliance. “Two people have died from the highly contagious disease, an even more powerful brother of The Black Death – the bubonic plague believed to have wiped out a quarter of the population of Europe in the 14th Century…. Pneumonic plague is one of the most virulent and deadly diseases on earth, usually fatal within 24 hours.”
In August, 2008, the Israeli microbiologist Joseph Mosse, who is allegedly connected to the Mossad, said Baxter International had manufactured a bioweapon in the Ukraine. Mosse was arrested for supposedly making threats against the White House. “Shortly after his arrest there were reports that he had called into a radio show with a warning about a biological weapon being prepared in the Ukraine by a company called Baxter International. According to these reports, Mr Mosse said that the weapon would be spread via a flu vaccine,” Radio Netherlands Worldwide reported on November 3. “Credence is being given to these reports because Mr Mosse’s qualifications as a microbiologist are confirmed by his research profile” on the BiomedExperts website.
Is it possible the events in Ukraine are a precursor of things to come in the rest of Europe and the United States? If the virus currently spreading in Ukraine is a new and more deadly mutation of H1N1 or pheumonic plague, we may very well see enforced quarantines and forced vaccination in the United States.

A document has surfaced revealing IBM was aware of the current H1N1 “pandemic” in 2006. Excerpts from “Services & Global Procurement pan IOT Europe, Pandemic Plan Overview,” an official inter-departmental document distributed to upper-level management of IBM in France during 2006 are posted on the Prevent Disease website. Science dictates that only a randomized double-blind, placebo-controlled study can generate unbiased results in any clinical trial. In the history of vaccine development, no such study has ever been performed. The federal government has accelerated its $16 million dollar PR campaign to brainwash and coerce increasingly suspicious Americans into taking the swine flu vaccine by weaving their propaganda into a popular pre-school show for children currently airing on PBS Kids.
Sid the Science Kid is a half-hour series produced by Jim Henson Productions and KCET in Los Angeles, California. The program is bankrolled in part by The Boeing Company, a titan of the military-industrial complex.
During an episode of the show set to air on Monday, the computer-generated characters are shown dancing around and singing about how their are taking their flu vaccine.
Indeed, the entire episode is devoted to pro-vaccine propaganda and was created in association with Health and Human Services. The episode is entitled, “Getting a Shot: You can do it!”
According to a press release, “Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, Education Secretary Arne Duncan, and Lisa Henson, CEO of the Jim Henson Company, will join Washington-area school children for a screening of the new “Sid the Science Kid” special episode on the flu at the U.S. Department of Education Auditorium.”
Children will also be directed to the Sid the Science Kid website to play games focused around the issue of vaccines.
“In this special episode, Sid explains how vaccines work and shows millions of children what they can do to prevent the spread of the flu,” said Secretary Sebelius. “Sid will be a great messenger as we continue to find new and creative ways to reach out to children, adults, and families about how to stay healthy during flu season.”
As we have reported, the government is openly embedding propaganda about its health care agenda into the plots of major network shows all this week. We also discovered a separate example of almost subliminal brainwashing where the watching audience are told to get the flu shot via a deceptive and insidious insert during an episode of FlashForward, a sci-fi series currently airing on ABC.
What ‘Sid the Science Kid,’ the pharmaceutical lobby and Kathleen Sebelius won’t tell you about the swine flu vaccine is that children are already dying after taking similar vaccines, that healthy young women are getting brain disorders after being injected with flu vaccines, that the H1N1 shot containsdangerous additives like mercury which cause autism, and that a child is 40 times more likely to be struck by lightning than have their life saved by a swine flu vaccine.
While children are having this crap shoved down their throats on television, the New York Times‘ educational division is teaching them in schools across the country that openly admitted facts about the dangers of the swine flu vaccine are all in fact “myths”.

Sid the Science Kid is a half-hour series produced by Jim Henson Productions and KCET in Los Angeles, California. The program is bankrolled in part by The Boeing Company, a titan of the military-industrial complex.
During an episode of the show set to air on Monday, the computer-generated characters are shown dancing around and singing about how their are taking their flu vaccine.
Indeed, the entire episode is devoted to pro-vaccine propaganda and was created in association with Health and Human Services. The episode is entitled, “Getting a Shot: You can do it!”
According to a press release, “Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, Education Secretary Arne Duncan, and Lisa Henson, CEO of the Jim Henson Company, will join Washington-area school children for a screening of the new “Sid the Science Kid” special episode on the flu at the U.S. Department of Education Auditorium.”
Children will also be directed to the Sid the Science Kid website to play games focused around the issue of vaccines.
“In this special episode, Sid explains how vaccines work and shows millions of children what they can do to prevent the spread of the flu,” said Secretary Sebelius. “Sid will be a great messenger as we continue to find new and creative ways to reach out to children, adults, and families about how to stay healthy during flu season.”
As we have reported, the government is openly embedding propaganda about its health care agenda into the plots of major network shows all this week. We also discovered a separate example of almost subliminal brainwashing where the watching audience are told to get the flu shot via a deceptive and insidious insert during an episode of FlashForward, a sci-fi series currently airing on ABC.
What ‘Sid the Science Kid,’ the pharmaceutical lobby and Kathleen Sebelius won’t tell you about the swine flu vaccine is that children are already dying after taking similar vaccines, that healthy young women are getting brain disorders after being injected with flu vaccines, that the H1N1 shot containsdangerous additives like mercury which cause autism, and that a child is 40 times more likely to be struck by lightning than have their life saved by a swine flu vaccine.

Now it's your turn. The pharmaceutical company has produced the vaccine against H1N1, also known as swine flu. Federal health officials have pronounced it safe and effective and the province is rolling it out over the next few weeks.
So what should you do?
For the first time, the health officials are urging everyone, not just the most vulnerable to serious illness, to roll up our sleeves, but not all at once.
They want those most at risk -- pregnant women, people under 65 with chronic conditions, people living on first nations reserves or in remote communities, to line up first, starting next week, for the limited doses of vaccine already available.
A week later, they will be ready for children from six months to five years old, health care workers, people who come into regular contact with infants and people with compromised immune systems.
By mid-November, health officials expect to be able to throw the doors open and take everyone else, first come, first served.
So you have a decision to make. Health officials say it's a no-brainer, especially for those most at risk, and some of the points they make are irrefutable.
The H1N1 virus is spreading quickly in British Columbia. The so-called second wave is already washing over the province at a time when seasonal influenzas rarely make an appearance.
This is a "novel" virus, with an unsettling habit of striking young people particularly hard. It has killed people who apparently had no pre-existing conditions, including a 26-year-old mother from Mission.
Still, for most people, even if you are stricken by the virus, the result will be a mild case of flu. Nasty, but not dangerous. And how safe are the vaccines themselves?
For most people, the worst side effect with an influenza vaccine will be a sore arm. There is also a theoretical risk, estimated to be one in a million, of a severe, perhaps fatal complication.
People who have had bad reactions in the past, or who are allergic to eggs, should consult a doctor.
Nine people have already died in B.C. from H1N1, more than a hundred have been hospitalized with complications, so it doesn't take very advanced math to show that the risk of not being vaccinated is vastly greater than the risks inherent to the vaccine.
Health officials also discount concerns about the adjuvant, or booster being added to the vaccine to make it more effective, arguing that it has already been tested safely on 45,000 people.
A version of the vaccine without the adjuvant is scheduled to be available by mid-November for pregnant women and children under three. But since the risk of adjuvant is theoretical -- the concern is that it hasn't been tested on pregnant women -- and the risk of H1N1 is real, health officials are urging women in the second half of their pregnancies not to wait for it but to get vaccinated with the already available adjuvanted vaccine.
Still, even in the worst pandemic, the odds are pretty good that you won't get sick. So why get vaccinated?
For me, aside from my aversion to spending a week hanging around a bathroom with a fever and chills, it comes down to an issue of civic responsibility.
The more people get vaccinated, the fewer hosts there are available to carry the H1N1 virus.
Some people, infants under the age of six months for example, can't be vaccinated. For others, the vaccine will not be effective for various reasons.
Their best chance of avoiding serious illness is to not come in contact with anyone carrying the virus.

The following draft of an “isolation order” was discovered on the CDC’s website. It is a template for state and local officials to impose quarantines and what would effectively be martial law.
“Your illness [as determined by state and local officials] requires that you be isolated and requires further public health investigation and monitoring.”
Failure to obey will result in imprisonment without bail prior to trial and the possiblity of a two year prison term.
In other words, according to this document, officials can impose quarantine without evidence that somebody is actually infected with a virus that is now negligible at best. It may also be used to quarantine potentially millions of people suffering from any number of illnesses — or not suffering from any disease at the discretion of the state — that have nothing to do with H1N1. It is basically a carte blanche for martial law under the cover of protecting the public from a communicable disease that is demonstrably a manufactured and weaponized threat.

After the mainstream media ran numerous stories on mass vaccination plans in Canada and the US there has been a large outcry from health care workers as well as the general public. Although the media never came out and plainly said that the ‘H1N1 Vaccine is mandatory for everyone’, they did allude to it. A story was published in the National Post that plainly stated “Under Canada’s official pandemic plan, the entire population would ultimately be immunized against the H1N1 swine flu.”. This is basically equivalent to saying that the H1N1 vaccine is compulsory for all Canadians. But after the public expressed disdain for this, the government started to back pedal. Chief Public Health Officer Dr. David Butler-Jones started making statements like ,“ Immunization will not be mandatory and not all Canadians are expected to want it.” More news articles were later published making it seem like only enough vaccine is being ordered for the 75% of the population that are expected to want it. But then the results of the vaccine ‘trials’ ‘demonstrated’ that only one dose will be needed as opposed to two. This implies that Ontario has ordered more than enough vaccine to inoculate the entire population. So in light of all of the mixed messages, what’s the real story on forced vaccination in Canada? In 1996 Ontario passed the Health Care Consent Act, which allows treatment such as vaccination to be administered without consent of the individual in the case of a loosely defined “Emergency”. In Quebec the Public Health Act clearly states: “Notwithstanding any provision to the contrary, while the public health emergency is in effect, the Government or the Minister, if he or she has been so empowered, may, without delay and without further formality, to protect the health of the population, (1) order compulsory vaccination of the entire population or any part of it against smallpox or any other contagious disease seriously threatening the health of the population and, if necessary, prepare a list of persons or groups who require priority vaccination. ” Clearly it is not unforeseeable that mandatory vaccination could be a reality in Canada during this pandemic. Recently, Greg Evensen a former Kansas State Trooper reported that he has state troopers across America telling him that to enforce vaccination orders this fall, road blocks will be set up along with a system to identify travelers who have received the vaccine. Metal shackle like bracelets with embedded RFID chips will be attached to those who receive the shot. Those who refuse to be vaccinated will be loaded on a bus and sent to a quarantine facility/FEMA camp. Templates for quarantine orders for Iowa , Florida and North Carolina have been found on the CDC web server, that tell a similar story. Get the H1N1 vaccine or get sent to a quarantine/detention facility. The question should be asked, are there similar plans in the works in Canada? In 2005 a new Quarantine Act was passed to deal with the transmission of communicable diseases by travelers entering or leaving Canada. Powers are awarded under this act to a Quarantine Officer to issue an order for a traveler who may have come in contact with someone with a communicable disease, to comply with treatment (ie. vaccination) or any other preventative measure (Section 26). If the traveler refuses to comply with the order he or she may face detention at a quarantine facility, until they decide to comply with treatment (ie. vaccination) or no longer pose a risk (Section 28). The threat posed by this act is diminished by the fact that it only applies to people leaving or entering Canada. Unfortunately there is a real possibility that the definition of a traveler may be expanded to include internal travelers (ie. everyone). The 2004 Public Safety Act (Bill C-7 (2004) formerly Bill C-42 (2002)) amends the Quarantine Act , and in doing so grants powers to the Minister of Health to make an interim order without Parliamentary oversight, to expand the definition of a traveler to include anyone residing in Canada. This sets the stage for a grim situation much like the one depicted by Greg Evensen. Is it likely that despite all the legislation allowing mandatory vaccination in Canada that they will be optional this fall ? The mainstream media is trying to make it seem like that will be the case. But what if the NWO crime syndicate intends to advance their population reduction agenda through a mass vaccination campaign? Opposition to forced vaccinations would be more than enough reason to round up resistors and send them to quarantine facilities/ concentration camps. Jane is a young woman living in Vienna who, while working as a medical editor, was horrified to learn in early 2009 of the fiasco in which a Baxter International research facility in Orth-Donau, Austria, sent a quantity of human H3N2 viral material to 18 European laboratories.
Such a supply of experimental material would have been totally normal - except that in this instance the H3N2 had been somehow contaminated with live H5N1... the far more lethal Avian Flu.
As a medical editor, Jane immediately realized the import of what had happened - and what had nearly happened - and raised the alarm. But no-one in the Austrian media was interested. She then took matters into her own hands and filed legal charges against those who she considered the perpetrators to be.
Very soon after, Jane was dismissed from her job without explanation. Undeterred, she sought support on the internet and continued her campaign. In the months since then she has attracted committed followers - and critics - all over the world. She is not alone in suspecting that there exists a literally diabolical plan which is nothing less than the genocide of potentially hundreds of millions of people worldwide.

Ottawa orders 50 million vaccine doses "There will be enough for every Canadian and more", health minister says.

Every Canadian in the country will be able to get at least one shot of the swine flu vaccine, federal health officials said Thursday as they announced an order is to be placed for 50.4 million doses.
"This will ensure sufficient vaccine is available to immunize every Canadian who needs and wants protection from the H1N1 virus," Federal Health Minister Leona Aglukkaq told reporters.
The order, worth more than $400 million, will be placed "soon" with GlaxoSmithKline, the minister said. The federal government is picking up 60 per cent of the tab; the provinces and territories will cover the rest.
Dr. David Butler-Jones, Canada's chief public health officer, said the results of clinical trials, predicted to get underway in September, will determine whether one dose or two will be required for those who receive the vaccine. Ten things you're not supposed to know about the swine flu vaccine
#1 - The vaccine production was "rushed" and the vaccine has never been tested on humans. Do you like to play guinea pig for Big Pharma? If so, line up for your swine flu vaccine this fall...
#2 - Swine flu vaccines contain dangerous adjuvants that cause an inflammatory response in the body. This is why they are suspected of causing autism and other neurological disorders.
#3 - The swine flu vaccine could actually increase your risk of death from swine flu by altering (or suppressing) your immune system response. There is zero evidence that even seasonal flu shots offer any meaningful protection for people who take the jabs. Vaccines are the snake oil of modern medicine.
#4 - Doctors still don't know why the 1976 swine flu vaccines paralyzed so many people. And that means they really have no clue whether the upcoming vaccine might cause the same devastating side effects. (And they're not testing it, either...)
#5 - Even if the swine flu vaccine kills you, the drug companies aren't responsible. The U.S. government has granted drug companies complete immunity against vaccine product liability. Thanks to that blanket immunity, drug companies have no incentive to make safe vaccines, because they only get paid based on quantity, not safety (zero liability).
#6 - No swine flu vaccine works as well as vitamin D to protect you from influenza. That's an inconvenient scientific fact that the U.S. government, the FDA and Big Pharma hope the people never realize.
#7 - Even if the swine flu vaccine actually works, mathematically speaking if everyone else around you gets the vaccine, you don't need one! (Because it can't spread through the population you hang with.) So even if you believe in the vaccine, all you need to do is encourage your friends to go get vaccinated...
#8 - Drug companies are making billions of dollars from the production of swine flu vaccines. That money comes out of your pocket -- even if you don't get the jab -- because it's all paid by the taxpayers.
#9 - When people start dying in larger numbers from the swine flu, rest assured that many of them will be the very people who got the swine flu vaccine. Doctors will explain this away with their typical Big Pharma logic: "The number saved is far greater than the number lost." Of course, the number "saved" is entirely fictional... imaginary... and exists only in their own warped heads.
#10 - The swine flu vaccine centers that will crop up all over the world in the coming months aren't completely useless: They will provide an easy way to identify large groups of really stupid people. (Too bad there isn't some sort of blue dye that we could tag 'em with for future reference...)
The lottery, they say, is a tax on people who can't do math. Similarly, flu vaccines are a tax on people who don't understand health.

So the summary of the story is as follows:
Bush's friends decide that the medicine TAMIFLU is the solution for a pandemic that has not yet occurred and that has caused a hundred deaths worldwide in 9 years.
This medicine doesn't so much as cure the common flu.
In normal conditions the virus does not affect humans.
Rumsfeld sells the patent for TAMIFLU to ROCHE for which they pay him a fortune.
Roche acquires 90% of the global production of crushed aniseed, the base for the antivirus.
The governments of the entire world threaten a pandemic and then buy industrial quantities of the product from Roche.
So we end up paying for medicine while Rumsfeld, Cheney and Bush do the business.
As to the first, it is true Donald Rumsfeld does indeed have stock holdings in Gilead Sciences, Inc., the California biotech company that developed Tamiflu (a product now manufactured and sold by the pharmaceutical giant Roche), and so he benefits financially from increases in that company's stock price. (Gilead receives a royalty from Roche equal to about 10% of sales.) Rumsfeld was a member of Gilead's board of directors between 1988 and 2001, and he was its chairman from 1997 until he joined President George W. Bush's cabinet as Secretary of Defense in 2001. According to federal financial disclosures filed by Rumsfeld, he has Gilead stock holdings valued at between $5 million and $25 million.
The Secretary of Defense is not the only politically-connected person to have ties to Gilead. Former Secretary of State George Shultz, who is on Gilead's board, has sold more than $7 million worth of Gilead stock since the beginning of 2005. Another Gilead board member is the wife of former California governor Pete Wilson.
Rumsfeld is in a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" position because of his stock holdings, even though he apparently has no say in what Gilead does (he's no longer on its board) and has removed himself from being part of governmental decisions that affect it (he's recused himself). In a statement to The Independent in March 2006, the Pentagon said: "Secretary Rumsfeld has no relationship with Gilead Sciences, Inc. beyond his investments in the company. When he became Secretary of Defense in January 2001, divestiture of his investment in Gilead was not required by the Senate Armed Services Committee, the Office of Government Ethics or the Department of Defense Standards of Conduct Office. Upon taking office, he recused himself from participating in any particular matter when the matter would directly and predictably affect his financial interest in Gilead Sciences."
If Rumsfeld holds onto his stock and its share price rises (which one would expect it to do if an avian flu pandemic becomes a reality, or if concerns about such a pandemic continue to grow), he will be seen to be profiting mightily from sales of a product the U.S. government has been buying in large quantities. If he sells his stock and so divests himself of further interest in Tamiflu sales, he will be accused of locking up profits from the rise in share price that has already occurred. (In 2001, shares of Gilead Sciences, Inc. traded in a range between $6.64 and $17.93. Between January and April 2006, its price range has been $53.00 to $65.62.)
As to the second aspect of the e-mail, whether Tamiflu is effective against influenza (especially the specific H5N1 strain now referred to as avian or bird flu), the e-mail's dismissive "This medicine doesn't so much as cure the common flu" is misleading in that Tamiflu isn't meant to be a flu cure. Positioning the drug as a medicine that flopped obscures that fact.
Tamiflu does not cure the flu, but if taken soon after symptoms appear, Tamiflu can reduce the flu's severity. As to how well it's going to match up against bird flu, that is not yet known and indeed it may well not be knowable until the time comes. However, it is anticipated Tamiflu will have at least some effect against bird flu, and with that in mind, more than 60 countries (including the U.S.) have so far ordered large stocks of it. Such stockpiling is likely going to appear highly prudent if the bird flu pandemic, a worldwide medical disaster the United Nations estimates could kill 150 million people, does materialize.
Influenza is not a straightforward disease, as it is constantly mutating. While media attention has now conditioned us to regard "bird flu" as a particular entity, in truth there are many forms of "bird flu." The one now the focus of so much concern, the H5N1 strain, was first noted in Asian birds in 1997. That first year, 18 people in Hong Kong were diagnosed with the contagion, 6 of whom died. Since 1997, there have been approximately 206 known human cases bird flu (of which 114 died), but as the CDC points out: "It is possible that the only cases currently being reported are those in the most severely ill people, and that the full range of illness caused by the H5N1 virus has not yet been defined."
Viewed from one angle (114 deaths over the course of nine years), avian flu is not worth being much concerned about. But viewed from a more informed standpoint about the nature of influenza, there may indeed be great cause for alarm. Influenza can jump species and move from birds (and other animals, such as pigs) into humans. During the process of that move — and afterwards, as one person infects another — the virus changes form. What at one moment can be a containable and well-understood virus can in the space of hours or days become almost an entirely new virus. For this reason, flus are hard to combat: they change as they are passed along, staying well ahead of science's attempts to contain them.
Most strains of flu are not deadly to humans, save for members of groups especially at risk to all forms of contagion (e.g. the very young, the very old, and the infirm of all ages). Bird flu, however, is a killer, and if it jumps species and mutates on the fly into a form that humans can easily pass to each other, it could take the lives of millions in the space of weeks, ultimately making the United Nations' projected death toll of 150 million worldwide look like wishful thinking.
